Grafton Capital is pleased to announce the successful sale of its portfolio company, Third Financial, to Nucleus Financial, one of the UK’s leading independent adviser platform groups.
This acquisition marks the end of a 9-year journey for Grafton with Third Financial, during which several investment rounds were made, culminating in majority control in 2020.Third Financial, a leading provider of a fintech custodial platform and wealth management software, will now enhance Nucleus’s ‘adviser-as-a-platform’ offering, expanding bespoke solutions for wealth managers, advisers, and multi-family offices.
Ed Barroll Brown, Managing Partner at Grafton Capital, commented: “This is an excellent exit for Grafton Capital, and we are proud to have been part of Third Financial’s incredible growth journey over the last 9 years. Our decision to appoint Ian Partington as CEO in 2018 was crucial in driving the business forward. We wish Ian and the entire team the best as they continue this exciting journey with Nucleus.”
As part of the transaction, Ed Barroll Brown also stepped down from the board of Third Platform Services, the regulated business within Third Financial, where he had been the longest-standing director. Ed originally joined the board of Third Platform before the business was generating revenue and even before its original FCA authorisation, and has helped to navigate Third Financial’s growth over the years.
